Societies you may join during your medical student years

SSMI (Medical Students’ Society Iasi )

SSMI offers a lot of extra-curricular activities on many sections (acting, singing, volunteering, physical education, movie times etc), plus you feel part of a big team who has the same craving of being a doctor as you. You don’t have to worry for being a foreigner and feel lost since there is an International Department open to help you with the language and get you in the team you are interested in and ask your questions.

You can visit their weekly meetings every Tuesday at 19:30 and get a small idea about their work.

IMJS (International Medical Journal Society)

IMJS was made from students to students.  This Society has as goal to get students active on congresses and conferences and make them able to write and present their own medical papers.

They participate on congresses all around Romania, which gives you a great opportunity to see other cities than Iasi, and also they go abroad on congresses all around the world.

The meetings are hold in English and in the begging of each semester there is an open house where you can go, speak with the broad members ask them questions and learn more about what are the benefits of participating of congresses.

SSCR (Societatea Studenteasca de Chirurgue din Romania)

The Surgical Society of our faculty. This society is giving the possibility with their workshops to learn how to suture from scratch, what the mandatory equipment in a surgery is and how to prepare for the operating room. Their workshops are hold in Romanian, French and English which give the right to all students to get a first taste of what it needs to be a surgeon.
